Contracted care
What does it mean for you if Praktijk Flores has a contract with your health insurer?
- The care that falls within the terms of your policy will be reimbursed by your health insurer.
- The invoice is submitted directly to your health insurer.
- Reimbursement takes place through the basic health insurance; additional insurance is not required.
- You will always first pay the statutory deductible ("eigen risico").
Non-contracted care
What does it mean for you if Praktijk Flores doesn't have a contract with your health insurer?
- You will receive an invoice (usually monthly).
- You are responsible for paying Praktijk Flores yourself, but you can then submit it to your health insurer.
- If you submit the invoice to your health insurer for reimbursement, you will receive partial reimbursement.
- Reimbursement is provided through your basic health insurance. Supplemental insurance is usually not necessary, and you always pay the statutory deductible first.
Always check with your health insurer about the terms and conditions for non-contracted care and what percentage of the costs are reimbursed. This usually varies between 50-75% of the costs, depending on your policy. This reimbursement is provided through your basic health insurance.
What do you need to be eligible for reimbursement?
- A referral from your general practitioner (or medical specialist or treatment coordinator from a mental health care provider) for General Basic Mental Health Care
- Valid health insurance
- Identification at the start of treatment
- Sometimes an insurer has additional requirements or you need permission before reimbursement is possible. Please check with your health insurer beforehand.
Hinderpaalcriterium (Obstacle criterion)
- The obstacke criterion is a section (Article 13) of the Health Insurance Act, and health insurers must comply with it.
- This criterion stipulates that the reimbursement offered by health insurers for non-contracted care may not be so low that it prevents recipients from using these providers (an obstacle).
- Read more about the barrier criterion: https://www.zorgwijzer.nl/faq/hinderpaalcriterium
Unreimbursed Care
Sometimes a specific diagnosis is not covered by the insurance. This is usually only the case if no other diagnosis can be made. Some diagnoses and complaints that are not covered include:
- Adjustment disorder
- Specific phobias
- Relationship problems and partner therapy
- Normal grief reactions
- Work problems and burnout
- Sexual dysfunction (there are exceptions)
- Sleep-wake disorders
If another diagnosis can be made in addition to these complaints, the treatment may be covered. This will always be discussed with you in advance.
Rates
With non-contracted care, I apply the rates set by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa). These rates vary and depend on the duration and type of consultation. Below are the most common consultation rates:

| Treatment | 45 min | € 149,82 |
