EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an effective treatment technique for processing traumatic or distressing experiences. The method is often used for trauma, but can also be helpful for complaints related to shame, anxiety, negative self-images, or stuck memories.
With EMDR, we focus on specific components that are still practically or physically activated. By inviting these memories while simultaneously doing something else (for example, following something with your eyes), the charge often diminishes and creates space for a different meaning.
I use EMDR in a targeted and careful manner when it is clear that symptoms are related to unresolved experiences. The technique is always embedded within a broader treatment plan, with attention to stability, resilience, and connections to other symptoms or areas of life.
EMDR is not a therapy in itself, but a powerful tool that can contribute to reducing symptoms and restoring emotional balance.
